    尽管培训决策的经济模型是根据公司对此类培训成本和收益的计算来构建的，但实证工作从未能够直接在公司行为上测试这种模型。本文利用一个独特的数据库来分析企业间正式培训差异的决定因素，以及此类培训对劳动生产率的影响。主要发现是，大企业、引入新技术的企业、依靠内部晋升填补空缺的企业更有可能接受正式培训。正规培训被发现对劳动生产率有积极影响。
